Welcome
to the Affirmative Action Association for Women’s (AAAW)
website. We have been up for almost two years now and hope you
have become accustomed to visiting the site on a regular basis.
We are hoping to make many more improvements to the site to
make it more user-friendly and just plain useful to our members.
Along
with the other 2007 – 2009 Board members, I feel quite
a sense of satisfaction (and wonder) at all that we have accomplished
during our fast-ending term - two training workshops in August
and October 2008, January 2009 Holiday Mixer and Installation
Event, February Brown Bag Lunch at JFB and the March Stairway
to Success Conference. We also had the usual administrative
“housekeeping“ to do including planning, finance
management, communications, clean up and maintenance of membership
rolls and recruitment of new members, and general efforts to
keep AAAW networks of City and private sector contacts active
to keep vital resources available to the membership.
We
are nearing time for election of the Board for 2009 –
2011 and so we look to you the membership for selection of representatives
with the energy and enthusiasm to make the commitment needed
to continue the organization’s forward movement. Remember,
there are many small tasks that you can do and many ways you
can contribute to the work of AAAW. The Board can’t do
everything by itself but with the help of our members there
is not much we can’t do. We look forward to seeing you
at the May 21 meeting where your ideas can be heard and information
on volunteer opportunities can be explained.
